Book your kayak at Tjörnbro Arena

At Tjörnbro Arena, we have two single kayaks and two double kayaks that you can easily book online. Both kayaks are stable, ideal for beginners and have space for luggage. The single kayak ‘Ripple’ is perfect for short day trips – the hatch has space for swimwear and a packed lunch. If you’re planning a longer trip, perhaps staying overnight or bringing a dog or children with you, the double kayak ‘Esperanto’ is ideal with its two large hatches at the front and rear, as well as the flexible centre hatch, which can be used for extra luggage, a dog or a child up to the age of 5 as a third passenger!

How to rent a kayak

6 steps to your kayak

STEP 1

Book and pay for your kayak online. There are two single kayaks and two double kayaks. All kayaks can be hired for three hours, a full day, 24 hours or for several days.

STEP 4

Head down to the beach. The kayaks are here. Unlock them using the code you received in your booking confirmation. Place the kayak on the lawn or on the beach. Adjust the pedals and familiarise yourself with how the rudder works.

STEP 2

Make your way to Tjörnbro Arena. It’s a good idea to arrive about 30 minutes before your start time so that you have time to collect your kit and make your way down to the kayaks.

STEP 5

Pack your kayak and make sure all the hatches are properly closed.

Check the weather before heading out to sea and adapt your paddling to the weather conditions.

STEP 3

Go to the reception at Tjörnbro Arena and show your booking confirmation or give your name and booking number.

You will be provided with the following equipment:

  • Life jacket, spray skirt, paddle

  • Map of the area

  • Waterproof bag

STEP 6

When you return from your paddle, put the kayak back on the rack. Take your belongings out, remove any coarse dirt using the sponge provided in the kayak, and turn the kayak upside down. Return the remaining equipment to the reception and check out.

SÄKERHETSINFORMATION

WIND & WEATHER

Check the weather before you set off, particularly the wind strength and direction. If you have a choice, always paddle into the wind on the way out and with the wind behind you on the way back. Allow extra time and energy for paddling into the wind. Try to paddle in the lee as much as possible.

LIFE JACKET & PHONE

All paddlers must wear a life jacket. One member of the group must also carry a mobile phone close to their body (e.g. in their life jacket), securely packed in a waterproof case, so that they can call for help if necessary.

EQUIPMENT

Always adjust the pedals whilst you’re on land. Take the time to familiarise yourself with the kayak and the equipment. Try raising and lowering the rudder, and get a feel for how to steer. To fit the spray skirt, put it on like a skirt with the long side at the front, then pull it round the edge of the cockpit. NB! Make sure the handle at the front of the spray skirt is outside the cockpit and visible, so you can pull it if the kayak capsizes.
