Book your kayak at Rörviks Camping

At Rörviks Camping, we have three single kayaks and three double kayaks, which you can easily book online. Both types of kayak are stable, ideal for beginners and have space for luggage. The single kayak, the ‘Epsilon P300’, is perfect for day trips and overnight trips – its two large storage hatches have room not only for swimwear and a packed lunch, but also for a tent and much more. If you want to paddle with someone else in the same kayak, or take your dog or a child with you, the ‘Esperanto’ double kayak is perfect, with its two large storage hatches at the front and rear, as well as the flexible center hatch that can be used for even more storage, a small to medium-sized dog, or a child up to the age of 5 as a third passenger!

How our kayak rental works

5 steps to your kayak

STEP 1

Book and pay for your kayak online. There are three single kayaks and three double kayaks. All kayaks can be hired for three hours, a full day, 24 hours or for several days.

Make your way to Rörviks Camping in Hamburgsund. It’s a good idea to arrive about 30 minutes before your start time so that you have time to get your equipment ready and prepare for your paddle.

STEP 3

Walk across the campsite down to the beach. On your left, you’ll find our kayak storage box and the kayaks. You’ve been given a number with your booking – this applies to both the storage box and the kayak. In the storage box, you’ll find the following equipment:

Life jacket, spray skirt, paddle
Map of the area
Waterproof bag, paddle lock, sponge

STEP 5

Unlock your locker and your kayak using the codes provided in your booking confirmation. Take out your equipment and lock both the locker and the other kayaks again. Place the kayak on the lawn or on the beach. Adjust the pedals and familiarise yourself with how the rudder works. Pack the kayak and make sure all the hatches are properly closed. Check the weather before heading out to sea and adapt your paddling to the weather conditions.

When you return from your paddle, empty the kayak and clean it with a sponge – removing any coarse dirt and sand. Put the kayak back on the rack and lock it in place. Shake out and clean your equipment as required, and put everything back in the box. Please hang up the life jacket and spray cover so that they can dry. Lock the box again and have a look around to make sure you haven’t forgotten anything.

EQUIPMENT

Check the weather before you set off, particularly the wind strength and direction. If you have a choice, always paddle into the wind on the way out and with the wind behind you on the way back. Allow extra time and energy for paddling into the wind. Try to paddle in the lee as much as possible.

All paddlers must wear a life jacket. One member of the group must also carry a mobile phone close to their body (e.g. in their life jacket), securely packed in a waterproof case, so that they can call for help if necessary.

Always adjust the pedals whilst you’re on land. Take the time to familiarise yourself with the kayak and the equipment. Try raising and lowering the rudder, and get a feel for how to steer. To fit the spray skirt, put it on like a skirt with the long side at the front, then pull it round the edge of the cockpit. NB! Make sure the handle at the front of the spray skirt is outside the cockpit and visible, so you can pull it if the kayak capsizes.
